MALACAÑANG on Friday said Jay Ruiz remains the acting secretary of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) amid a looming reorganization in the Palace’s communications arm.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro issued the statement following reports that Dave Gomez, the communications director of Philip Morris International’s Philippine affiliate, is being considered to replace Ruiz as PCO chief.
In a press conference, Castro said she has not received any information about the possible reorganization of the PCO.

“Secretary Jay remains to be the acting secretary of PCO. So, if there are any rumors, nothing has reached us,” Castro told reporters.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on June 16 reappointed Ruiz as “acting secretary” of the PCO after he was bypassed by the Commission on Appointments (CA).
The CA was scheduled to deliberate on Ruiz’s appointment on June 3 but deferred it due to lack of time.
Ruiz, former broadcast journalist, is the fourth PCO chief under the Marcos administration.
Trixie Cruz-Angeles was the first to serve as press secretary. She was succeeded by Cheloy Garafil, who now heads the Manila Economic and Cultural Office.
Before Ruiz, Marcos also named Cesar Chavez as acting PCO secretary.
