Culture, agriculture, tourism, and community pride came together as the Municipality of Magalang officially launched Pyestang Camaru 2026 through the contract signing of partner agencies and the ceremonial sashing of the 18 candidates of Miss Magalang 2026.
Carrying the theme “Pamagmasusi keng Pimamanan, Pamanyikap keng Panyulung, Pamanubug keng Bukas,” this year’s festival promises to be the biggest and most prestigious edition yet while celebrating the town’s deep agricultural roots and rich Kapampangan heritage.
Leading the launch were Honorary Chairperson and Mayor Malu Lacson, Pyestang Camaru Chairperson Odilon Lacson, Municipal Tourism Officer Ryan Miranda, members of the Executive Committee, Municipal Administrator Norman Lacson, Sangguniang Bayan members, the Sangguniang Kabataan, and partner agencies from the Department of Agriculture, Department of Tourism Region III headed by Regional Director Richard Daenos, Pampanga State Agricultural University, and the University of Santo Tomas Graduate School-Center for Conservation of Cultural Property & Environment in the Tropics.
“An event as significant as Pyestang Camaru 2026 is never the work of just one person. It is the result of months of tireless planning, collaboration, and shared devotion to the heritage and culture of Magalang,” said Miranda.
Festival officials also formalized partnerships for the major events of this year’s celebration, including Miss Magalang 2026, Calutung Camaru, the Street Dancing Competition, and the Agricultural Research Summit.
One of the festival highlights is the Agricultural Research Summit on August 17 to 18, showcasing new ideas and innovations that will strengthen Magalang’s identity as one of Pampanga’s leading agricultural towns.
Food lovers can also look forward to the return of Calutung Camaru, now on its second year, featuring Inter-Collegiate Regional and Inter-Barangay culinary competitions. Participants will transform locally available ingredients into creative dishes, proving that Kapampangan cuisine continues to innovate while preserving tradition.
Tourism officials also highlighted Magalang’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable tourism, with stronger efforts to promote farm tourism and regenerative tourism that directly benefit local communities while protecting the town’s natural and cultural treasures.
Meanwhile, all eyes are on the 18 candidates of Miss Magalang 2026, as organizers promise the pageant’s biggest and most prestigious edition yet, continuing its tradition of producing outstanding queens who proudly represent Magalang.
The festivities continue throughout August with the Jobs Fair on August 19, Miss Magalang 2026 Coronation Night on August 20, Calutung Camaru on August 21, Dutdutan on August 22, the colorful Street Dancing Competition on August 23, and the grand Pyestang Camaru Music Festival featuring Rocksteddy on August 24.
With a weeklong roster of events, partnerships, and a renewed commitment to culture, agriculture, and tourism, Pyestang Camaru—hailed as Central Luzon’s Most Outstanding Festival—is set to showcase the very best of Magalang to residents and visitors alike.
