A senior citizen died after being struck by a passenger jeepney along the northbound lane of President Quirino Avenue near Plaza Dilao in Pandacan on Saturday morning, authorities said.
The incident occurred at around 10 a.m. on July 18, according to the Manila Police District Traffic Enforcement Unit.
The victim was initially brought to the Ospital ng Maynila and later transferred to the Philippine General Hospital (PGH), where he was declared dead on arrival.
Authorities said the jeepney driver and operator are cooperating with the ongoing investigation and have expressed willingness to shoulder the victim’s burial expenses.
Charges have already been filed against the driver in connection with the incident.
Meanwhile, the Manila Police District Traffic Enforcement Unit is appealing to any relatives or individuals who may know the victim to coordinate with their office to help establish his identity and inform his family.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
