The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has revoked the driver’s license and imposed a two-year disqualification from re-obtaining any type of license against the motorcycle rider who hit a woman crossing the pedestrian lane in Pasig City.

Based on CCTV footage that served as the basis for the issuance of a Show Cause Order (SCO) on October 19, at around 5 a.m., a motorcycle rider hit a woman crossing the pedestrian lane at C. Raymundo Avenue corner Kalaningan Street, Barangay Caniogan, Pasig City.

The victim was rushed to the Pasig City General Hospital for treatment after sustaining serious injuries.

After identifying the rider and the registered owner of the motorcycle, the LTO immediately issued an SCO and placed the incident under investigation. The rider involved immediately surrendered his license to the agency.

He was also ordered to appear at the hearing of the Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) and submit the relevant documents to explain the incident in relation to the Reckless Driving complaint.

After a thorough investigation and hearing, the IID determined that there was sufficient basis to charge the rider with Reckless Driving in connection with the collision with a pedestrian.

The rider was declared an Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle. So the LTO imposed the revocation of his license and disqualification from obtaining any type of driver’s license for a period of two years.

Meanwhile, the motorcycle remains in alarm status as part of the agency’s ongoing implementation of corresponding administrative actions.

“We are implementing stricter action against motorists who endanger the lives of pedestrians, including the revocation of their licenses and disqualification from re-obtaining them. Our action is clear, we will not allow the lives of pedestrians to be put at risk due to negligent driving,” said Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao. — BAP, GMA News
