Hann Foundation brings Sagip Kababayan to coastal areas

SASMUAN, Pampanga – Relief supplies worth some P1 million were recently delivered to typhoon-affected families in coastal barangays here as well as in the towns of Macabebe and Masantol.

Dubbed as Sagip Kababayan, the relief mission was an initiative of Hann Foundation Inc. (HFI), formerly known as Widus Foundation Inc., in partnership with the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., Hann Casino, Swissotel Clark, and Clark Marriott together with the Philippine Air Force-Air Defense Command Clark, JCI Angeles City Culiat, and the local government units.

A total of 1,500 beneficiaries from nine barangays were served with relief boxes containing various grocery items including five kilos of rice, bottled water, noodles, sardines, corned beef, face masks, and basic toiletries.

The donations were repacked, prepared, and distributed by employees of Hann Casino, Swissotel Clark, and Clark Marriott, and volunteers from PAF and JCI Angeles with the aid of the respective LGUs in Pampanga and Tarlac.

HFI manager Ronnel Golimlim also highlighted that HFI purchased the rice donated to the barangays from Sta. Ana Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative instead of purchasing it from local merchandizers as a way of supporting local farmers who are also in need of sales for their well milled rice.

Neki Liwanag, HFI executive director, said the project is the “continuation of the Hann Group’s commitment to the community.”

“As we transition to our rebranding as Hann Foundation, the charity arm will continue to provide relief to victims of typhoons, flooding and other natural calamities. HFI will use the Sagip Kababayan to continue to commit in providing assistance to our community members in need in whatever way possible,” Liwanag added.

For their part, the mayors — Jose Antonio Bustos of Masantol, Catalina Cabrera-Bagasina of Sasmuan, and Leonardo Flores of Macabebe – expressed their gratitude to HFI and hoped to do other future projects with the CSR group that will assist local fishermen and the women of their community.
