Capitol pushes food security with ‘Kabukiran’ project in Clark  , Punto! Central Luzon

CLARK FREEPORT – The thrust on food security of the Provincial Government of Pampanga gets further push with the development of a 6.59-hectare area for crops inside the Clark Civil Aviation Complex here.

Sited at the Galing ng Magsasaka sa Agrikultura (GMA) Kabukiran Parcel New Area, the farm project under the supervision of the office of the provincial agriculturist headed by Jimmy Manliclic has, to date, over two hectares planted to Filipino vegetables including talong, patola, upo, okra, sitaw, sili, kalabasa, and kamatis; root crops like mani and kamoteng kahoy; and fruit-bearing plants such as banana, papaya, and tamarind.

Clearing and ground preparation for planting continue, along with the installation of power and water supplies to further expand the arable areas for greater productivity.

It was only last December that Gov. Lilia “Nanay” Pineda signed a memorandum of agreement with Clark International Airport Corp. president and CEO Joseph “Jojit” Alcazar granting the use of the 6.59-hectare area with the express intent of enhancing and expanding livelihood programs for local communities in Pampanga.
