178 nabbed in QCPD’s intensified weeklong anti-crime ops

MANILA – Intensified police operations from June 15 to 21 resulted in the arrest of 178 persons facing various offenses in Quezon City.

In a statement on Monday, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Deputy District Director for Administration and officer-in-charge, Col. Randy Glenn Silvio, said those arrested include 67 drug suspects, 70 wanted persons, and 41 individuals involved in illegal gambling.

Silvio said that during the period, 53 anti-drug operations led to the arrest of 62 suspects and confiscation of PHP680,236 worth of illegal drugs.

For the campaign against illegal gambling, he said 41 were arrested and PHP14,183 in bet money was confiscated in 25 operations.

Charges have already been filed before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office, including violations of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and Presidential Decree 1602.

For the campaign against wanted persons, 44 other wanted persons (OWPs) and 26 most wanted persons (MWPs) were arrested, Silvio said.

The respective courts of origin have been notified of the arrests, he added.

Meanwhile, the QCPD also recorded notable administrative accomplishments for June 15 to 21.

The QCPD Medical and Dental Unit (QCPDMDU) provided essential health services to a total of 457 beneficiaries.

To promote excellence and boost morale within the organization, QCPD conferred 1,514 individual commendations and 113 awards to deserving personnel in recognition of their dedication, professionalism, and exemplary service.

As part of its morale and welfare initiatives, the Office of the District Executive Senior Police Officer provided cash assistance amounting to PHP80,000 to eight retiring QCPD personnel.

“QCPD remains steadfast in its commitment to internal excellence. Our strong administrative performance reflects not only our operational capability but also our resilience and unity as one organization,” Silvio said. (PNA)
