Probe on death of cop in Bukidnon ordered

CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan de Oro City: Brig. Gen. Lawrence Coop, police regional director in Northern Mindanao on Tuesday ordered a probe about the death of a policeman assigned in Kalilangan, Bukidnon.

Police Major Joan Navarro, the spokesperson of the police regional command here, identified the victim as Patrolman Jeffrey I. Dabuco, 31, of the Kalilangan Municipal Police Station in Bukidnon.

Dabuco, was assigned at the 2nd Platoon, 1004th Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) in Region 10, based in Maradugao Base, Sitio Ticub, Pamotolon, Kalilangan, Bukidnon.

Navarro said that Dabuco was reported missing on June 24, 2023, prompting the town police and the Kalilangan officials to conduct a search and rescue operation.

She said that on Monday, June 26, 2023, Dabuco’s body was found in a state of decomposition at the river banks of Maradugao River, in Panang, Wao, Lanao del Sur.

The Mindanao Daily News contacted the police provincial office in Bukidnon to verify unconfirmed reports that Dabuco was a victim of “foul play” or drowning after a reported drinking spree on the night of June 22, 2023.

Pol. Major Jissele Longgakit, the spokesperson of the Bukidnon provincial police office, said that there is an on-going probe and the investigation report about Dabuco’s death was “only for the police consumption.”
