CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Vice Governor Jigjag Pelaez of Misamis Oriental on Wednesday denied reports that provincial board members snubbed the inaugural address of newly elected Governor Juliette Uy.
On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, Governor Juliette Uy delivered her inaugural address to mark her first day in office as the newly elected Governor of Misamis Oriental.
While Uy made an appeal for unity without political biases, all 13 elected members of the provincial board, except for one, were a “no show.”
Pelaez stated that he attended the oath-taking ceremony of her daughter, who won a seat on the municipal council in Medina, a coastal town located 109 kilometers east of here.
Other members of the provincial board told the Mindanao Daily News that they received an invitation but were out of the city on Tuesday. In her inaugural address, Uy appealed to members of the provincial legislative body for unity and cooperation while promising to make her office accessible to all. She said that it is only through unity and cooperation that the province of Misamis Oriental could achieve its goals and programs of development. “The election is over. Let us now work together. Remember, politics is only temporary,” Uy said.
