CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Rolando Uy on Thursday belied insinuations that the on-going revamp at the City Hall was part of political persecution.
In a statement to the local press, Uy said that the reassignment of key officials to other city hall departments were meant to improve public service and sharing of expertise.
“I am confident that the personnel, especially those holding sensitive positions, could share expertise and experience to improve public service in their newly assigned department,” Uy said.
He said that the reassignment of personnel were not demotions because their positions were not affected by the new assignment.
Uy said that he urged the reassigned personnel to deliver more and contribute in the encouragement of the employees to be responsive to public service.
The revamp of the personnel in the city’s various departments was also one way of discovering potentials of the city government workers, Uy said.
He said the revamp covers all city employees, including department heads, permanent and contract workers.
