About 30 vendors in Pasay City were given family food packs and financial assistance by the Department of Social Work and Development – National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR) on Sunday, November 8, 2026.
The agency distributed cash assistance of P10,000 to each vendor as compensation for lost income during the 49th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and Related Summits that will be held this month.
The vendors were temporarily suspended from selling in Pasay City during the Summit as part of security restrictions.
The Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) and Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) will be the venues for the ASEAN Summit and Related Summits, according to the Pasay Traffic and Parking Management Office.
Malacañang earlier declared November 16 to 18 as special non-working days in the National Capital Region in connection with the country’s hosting of the ASEAN and related summits. This is to ensure the safety and security of the participants in the summits.
Moreover, the MMDA said that it will temporarily suspend issuance of permits for fun runs, motorcades, processions, and similar public events from October 24 to November 20. — BAP, GMA News
