MONTEVISTA, Davao de Oro (MindaNews / 30 July 2026) — The ₱148-million financial assistance from the Office of the President to the Davao de Oro Provincial Hospital (DDOPH)-Montevista will be used to purchase additional equipment for the operating rooms and for hiring additional medical staff, according to Dr. Ferdinand Anthony Soberano, chief of hospital. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. handed the check to Soberano during his visit on Tuesday.
The assistance, released through the Socio-Civic Projects Fund (SCPF), will prioritize upgrading decades-old equipment in the surgery and obstetrics areas, in line with the President’s directive. DDOPH-Montevista, a Level 1 hospital, serves an average of 60 daily patients with a 160-bed capacity.
Soberano emphasized the need for modern equipment such as anesthesia machines, operating lights, laparoscopic machines, and electronic fetal monitoring devices to meet Level 2 accreditation standards by 2027. Additional ICU monitors, defibrillators, and hiring of medical professionals for ICU and laboratory services are also planned.
