President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. led the distribution of financial assistance under the Socio-Civic Projects Fund (SCPF) to local government units in Zamboanga Peninsula on June 29, 2026, at the Western Mindanao State University gym. Zamboanga City Mayor Khymer Olaso and Liga ng mga Barangay President Jordan Evangelista received P19.6 million for the city’s 98 barangays, with each barangay allocated P200,000—half for five indigent college scholars (P20,000 each) and the rest for barangay needs.
Governors Darel Dexter Uy (Zamboanga del Norte), Divina Yu (Zamboanga del Sur), and Dulce Ann Hoffer (Zamboanga Sibugay) also received funds totaling P138.2 million, P136.2 million, and P77.8 million, respectively. Hoffer assured transparent distribution to all barangays.
Earlier, Marcos launched the Walang Gutom Kitchen Program in Barangay Tetuan, the first in Mindanao, providing nutritious meals to indigent families daily from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. The SCPF, part of the Bawat Bayan Makikinabang Program, aims to support communities and scholars nationwide.
