The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a Show Cause Order (SCO) against a son of a vice mayor in relation to a recent road incident in Marikina City that resulted in death.

His license has also been placed under preventive suspension for 90 days.

LTO has summoned the registered owner of the vehicle involved in the incident and face the Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) on July 8, 2026.

The owner is also being asked to submit a sworn explanation on why he should not be held administratively liable for Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol or Narcotic Drug. This, after the Alcohol Breath Analyzer (ABA) showed he has Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of 0.410%

“Wala tayong sinisino. Ang sinumang lumalabag sa batas ay mananagot, anuman ang kanyang katayuan sa buhay o koneksyon. Hindi natin hahayaang may buhay na kapalit ang kawalang-disiplina sa kalsada,” said LTO Assistant Secretary Lacanilao.

(Anyone who violates the law will be held accountable, regardless of their status in life or connections. We will not let lives be sacrificed for indiscipline on the road.)

The LTO did not identify the name of the vice mayor’s son.

In June 13, a 27-year-old senior high school teacher figured in a road accident after his motorcycle was hit by a sport utility vehicle (SUV) that was allegedly driven by a son of the vice mayor of Marikina City. The teacher died a few days later.

According to EJ Gomez’s report in “24 Oras” on Thursday, the incident was caught on camera and happened at an intersection in Barangay Concepcion Dos. —VAL, GMA News
