GMA Network was awarded as Television Station of the Year at the Rotary Club of Manila Pro Patria Journalism Awards 2026.

The Rotary Club of Manila said this is in recognition of GMA Network’s comprehensive and trustworthy reportage and documentaries that are proof of its unmatched public service, journalistic service, and national relevance.

Michelle S. Seva, GMA News OIC and concurrent head for News Programs and Specials, received the award on behalf of the network.

“This recognition belongs to the thousands of men and women across the Kapuso Network. It also belongs to the millions of Filipinos who turned to GMA in moments of triumphs and in moments of loss. Their trust is a privilege we never take for granted,” Seva said

She added that democracy is strengthened further if the people have access to trustworthy information.

The award, she said, is a reminder that press freedom cannot be separated from the freedom enjoyed by Filipinos.

“For freedom is sustained not only by those who fought for it, but also by the institutions that help keep it strong. A free and responsible press is one of those institutions. Asahan po ninyo na kami sa GMA News dito po sa Network ay mananatiling walang kinikilingan, walang pinoprotektahan, noon at ngayon, serbisyong totoo (You can be assured that we in GMA News, in the network, will remain impartial and will not protect anyone, then and now, in the name of true service),” ayon kay Seva.

Award-winning Kapuso journalist Atom Araullo was also recognized as Television Broadcaster of the Year.

“Journalism nowadays is a very difficult job to do, facts are being challenged, disinformation is everywhere and public discourse can sometimes be more distracting than illuminating, but our job remains the same, to ask questions, to follow the evidence wherever it leads and to make sure that the voice of ordinary people aren’t drowned out by the noise,” Araullo said.

He thanked his colleagues, GMA Network, and the Rotary Club of Manila for recognizing the importance of a free and independent press.

The Rotary Club of Manila Pro Patria Journalism Awards fetes journalists and media institutions who are examples of truthful and responsible journalism.

“To my fellow reporters and journalists, may we continue to do our job with courage and integrity. Maraming salamat po (Thank you),” Araullo said.

Meanwhile, Rotary Club of Manila President Atty. Raoul Creencia commended GMA Network and Araullo.

“I hope we will maintain the kind of level, I mean, the level of journalism, the truthful reporting that we undertake day in, day out. Dahil (Because) you more than anyone else know that this is what we need in our country today,” Creencia said. — JMA, GMA News
