A 57-year old helper was strangled to death and possibly raped by a man who robbed the house of the victim’s employer in Quezon City.
According to James Agustin’s report on 24 Oras on Wednesday, the body of the female victim was found half naked inside the house of her employer on Sunday morning.
Police said the victim had just reported for work and was being sought by her employer who was bed-ridden. When the victim failed to respond, the employer asked another helper who discovered the victim’s body lying on the floor in one of the rooms.
P/Lt. Col. Jose Luis Aguirre, La Loma Police Station Commander, said the victim’s lower garment was pulled down, an indication she was raped before she was killed by the suspect who allegedly stole several pieces of jewelry from the house.
Prior to the incident, CCTV footage showed the suspect walking towards the house. Around an hour later he was seen leaving the area wearing a different colored t-shirt and carrying a sling bag.
Aguirre said backtracking indicated the suspect was inside the house at around 6 a.m. while the victim arrived at the residence 20 minutes later. The suspect emerged from the house 30 minutes afterwards.
Follow-up operations by police led to the suspect’s arrest in Tondo, Manila. An unlicensed handgun and ammunition was seized from the man. Records show this is the sixth time he was apprehended and was nabbed previously charged for theft and gambling.
The detained suspect declined to make any comment, saying he will explain his side before the court. He is facing charges of robbery, rape with homicide and violating the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. —RF, GMA Integrated News
