A man who went into hiding for the past 10 years after he allegedly raped his young niece was arrested in Quezon City.
“Noong panahong ito na mino-molestiya niya ay minor victim pa itong ating biktima natin dito, 13 years old. Sampung taon nag-tago itong ating suspect,” said Pasig Police chief Police Colonel Hendrix Mangaldan in Emil Sumangil’s exclusive report in “24 Oras” on Thursday.
(At the time he was molesting her, our victim was still a minor, 13 years old. Our suspect hid for ten years.)
The crime occurred in Pasig City but the suspect eventually moved to Quezon City where he went into hiding.
The suspect is now detained at the Pasig City Detention Cell.
“Sana po mapatawad niyo po ako sa mga nagawang kasalanan. Ako po ay nagsisisi na, matagal na po akong nagsisisi. Patawarin niyo po ako,” he said.
(I hope you can forgive me for what I’ve done. I now regret what I did, I have been regretting it for a long time. Please forgive me.)
If found guilty, the suspect could be sentenced to life imprisonment. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
