DPWH-Davao Assures Ma-a Flyover Project Remains on Track

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Region XI has dismissed as “false and misleading” a signage installed near the Ma-a Flyover in Davao City, which claimed that the project’s delay was due to “political pressure.” The signage, posted on social media by Dabawenews host Paulo Lino Canillo Te on August 2, 2025, alleged that the Marcos administration and the DPWH were deliberately stalling the project by neglecting road right-of-way issues, withholding the budget, and slow legal processes. DPWH-XI clarified that the Maa-Magtuod Flyover has been fully funded since 2022, with 82.5% of civil works completed, and attributed delays to unresolved right-of-way issues involving four properties with mortgage liens. The department is coordinating with banks and utilities, including Davao Light and Power Company, which is set to relocate electric poles on August 3, and telecommunication providers to address infrastructure concerns. DPWH-XI assured the public that the project remains a priority and urged the public to rely on official sources for accurate updates.
