The Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced Saturday that the printing of over 68 million ballots for the 2025 national and local elections has been completed.
According to JP Soriano’s social media report, Comelec said that once the verification process for the 68,542,564 ballots is finalized, these will be marked, sealed, and readied for distribution.
Also on Saturday, Super Radyo dzBB reported that the Comelec has started disposing some 6 million rejected ballots from its warehouse in Santa Rosa, Laguna.
These are currently being transported to a paper mill in Pampanga for disposal.
Meanwhile, the Comelec has also finished printing more than half of the 68 million voter information sheets (VIS) required for Eleksyon 2025.
Comelec Chairperson George Garcia announced on Friday that as of March 14, approximately 55%—or 37 million VIS—had been printed at the National Printing Office’s (NPO) satellite facility in Meycauayan, Bulacan. Of these, 21% have been verified.
Last January, the Comelec deputized the NPO, allowing the use of the latter’s four printing machines and two machines procured by South Korean firm Miru Systems Inc. to ensure the “proper, satisfactory, and timely” completion of the reprinting of the official ballots for the May polls.
Earlier this month, the Quezon City government temporarily closed the Amoranto Sports Complex to the public from March 1 to April 30 for the storage and processing of official ballot documents of the Comelec. — Sherylin Untalan/ VDV, GMA Integrated News
