A 65-YEAR-OLD man is in critical condition after he was stabbed by his drunk neighbor around 9 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2023, in Sitio Purok Talong, Barangay Dalahikan, Samboan town in southern Cebu.

The victim, Martiniano Lobo Catolinan, a former bus driver, sustained stab wounds in his body.

The suspect identified as Lucrisio Angana Angcon, 26, was arrested.

Police Staff Sergeant Ressel Jabagat, of the Samboan Police Station, told Superbalita Cebu that the suspect was drinking liquor in a store when the victim arrived and asked the suspect if he had seen Catolinan’s minor child.

Angcon got angry, grabbed a knife and stabbed Catolinan twice in the body.

Jabagat said that according to the suspect, he grabbed the knife as Catolinan grabbed a bolo.

“Alibi niya kay gibunotan sa pinuti sa biktima. Unya sa pagsusi nato, wala may dalang hinigiban ang biktima (The suspect’s alibi was the victim grabbed a bolo, but based on our investigation, the victim was not carrying a weapon),” said Jabagat.

The victim was rushed to a hospital in Cebu City.

Angcon will be facing a case for frustrated homicide, said Jabagat. (GPL/LMY)
