Around 2,000 delegates from the four provinces of Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental and Siquijor are expected to participate in this year’s event, which will be held from June 20-23, 2023.
Activities such as dressmaking, cooking, oration and speech and bayle sa kalye will be participated either by individuals or groups depending on the category.
Eight categories are included in the RFOT: (1) Technolympics for Technology and Livelihood Education, Technical Vocational Education, and Technical-Vocational Livelihood, (2) Sining Tanghalan for Music and Arts, (3) Population Development for Social Studies (Araling Panlipunan), (4) Read-A-Thon for English and Filipino, (5) Lingo Stars for Special Program in Foreign Language, (6) Musabaqah for Madrasah Education Program, (7) SNEd Expo for Special Needs Education and (8) STEMazing for Science, Engineering, and Mathematics.
The event aims to provide opportunities for public and private elementary and secondary school learners, including students in Alternative Learning System, Indigenous Peoples Education, Special Needs Education Program, and Madrasah Education Program to showcase their talents and skills and explore the culture of the host region.
Also, RFOT provides a platform for strengthening teachers’ and learners’ knowledge and skill sets as they listen to the invaluable insights shared by the panel of experts.
This year’s theme is “Reinforcing 21st Century Learning and Fostering Creative Industries through Talents and Skills Exhibition.”
The opening program will be held at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex on June 20 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Around 150 police personnel will be deployed in billeting schools to secure the delegates.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Franco Rudolf Oriol, Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) Deputy City Director for Operations and spokesperson, said on Thursday, June 15 that they are ready to provide 24-hour security for the delegates starting on Monday, June 19, when they arrive.
Oriol reminded the delegates and organizers to be watchful of their belongings.
The billeting schools for the delegates are the Subangdaku Elementary School, Subangdaku Technical-Vocational School, Mandaue City Central School, Ibabao-Estancia Elementary School, Mandaue City Comprehensive National High School, Mandaue City Science High School, Maguikay Elementary School, Mandaue City SPED (Special Education) Center, and St. Louis College.
The RFOT winners will qualify for the National Festival of Talents (NFOT) on July 17-21, 2023, which will be held in Northern Mindanao. (HIC)
