AS part of their security preparations for the Barangay and Sanguniang Kabataan Election on October 30, 2023 in Cebu, the Provincial Joint Security Coordinating Center (PJSCC) has been reactivated by the Commission on Election (Comelec) Cebu provincial office and the different law enforcement agencies.
Provincial Election Supervisor Edwin Cadungog and the representatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA 7), the Visayas Command of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) presented their respective security plans during a meeting.
Beginning on August 28 and continuing through November 29, 2023, the Philippine National Police will once more enforce the Comelec gun ban throughout the election campaign period.
The campaign period for the October 30 election will begin on Monday, August 28, during which the Comelec gun ban will take into effect until November 29.
In line with this, CPPO information officer Police Major Nolan Tagsip said all police stations in the province are required to conduct simultaneous Comelec checkpoints at midnight on August 28.
“Sa August 28 start na sad sa atung gun ban, mag declare pud tag simultaneous Comelec checkpoint anang mga panahona, expected nga ang tanang police station sa Cebu Province naay random checkpoint,” Tagsip said.
(We will proclaim simultaneous Comelec checkpoints on August 28 when our gun ban goes into effect, and it is anticipated that all police stations in Cebu Province will have random checkpoints then). (AYB, TPT)
