Camp Crame reassigned Bearis as director of the Aviation Security Group (Avsegroup) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) effective Friday, March 17, 2023.
Though the relief order did not state the reason for his transfer, Bearis’ reassignment came 13 days after the killings of Negros Oriental governor Roel Degamo and eight others in the public official’s residence in Pamplona town last March 4.
Negros Oriental and the provinces of Cebu, Bohol and Siquijor are under the jurisdiction of the PRO 7.
Bearis along with other police officials was present during the burial of Degamo in the late governor’s hometown of Siaton on Thursday, March 16.
The PNP headquarters named Brig. Gen. Anthony Abellada Aberin as the new PRO 7 director. He was the Avsegroup chief before the reassignment.
Also covered in the order issued by Lt. Gen. Michael John Dubria, chief of the directorial staff, were Maj. Gen. Oliver Alilis Enmodias, who was relieved from the Area Police Command (APC) Northern Luzon (NL) and transferred to the PNP-Directorate for Research and Development (DRD); Brig. Gen. Mafelino Aspero Bazar from Police Regional Office (PRO) Cordillera to APC-NL; and Brig. Gen. Alden Bacarra Delvo from APC-Eastern Mindanao to PRO 11 (Davao).
Assigned to new posts were Brig. Gen. Joel Bargamento Doria to PRO Mimaropa, Brig. Gen. Sidney Sultan Hernia to PNP-Anti-Cybercrime Group, Brig. Gen. David Kang-Owan Peredo Jr. to PRO Cordillera, Brig. Gen. Benjamin Habitan Silo Jr. to Civil Security Group, Brig. Gen. Andrew Diwayan Cayad to the Directorate for Operations, and Col. Romeo Juan Macapaz to the Intelligence Group. (KAL, TPM)
