A MALE teenager who attended a disco during a fiesta in Minglanilla, Cebu found himself in the hospital after being stabbed by another minor.
Capt. Kalvin Jomari Golitod, chief of the Minglanilla Police Station, said the stabbing happened around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 24, in Sitio Ingga, Barangay Tunghaan, Minglanilla.
The victim, Joe (not his real name), 17, hails from City of Naga, Cebu.
Joe and his friends attended the disco during the fiesta in Ingga, where the suspect, Ben (not his real name), also attended the same event.
According to Golitod, the suspect became envious of the victim for unclear reasons.
While the victim and his friends were heading home, the suspect followed and attacked him, striking the victim’s upper back with a jungle knife.
The police arrested Ben, and they turned him over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
Golitod said they are still evaluating whether they can file a frustrated murder case against the suspect.
He said the town has implemented a curfew, but he added that they are unable to fully monitor their entire area of responsibility.
He urged parents with underage children not to allow them to stay out too late at night or until dawn to prevent accidents or involvement in situations that can lead to
accidents. / DVG / WBS
