Man seeks police help after single mom threatens to sue him for rape

A MAN is in hot water after a single mom with whom he had sex threatened to file a lawsuit against him for breaking his commitment to give her P2,000.

Michael (real name withheld), 40, who hails from Talisay City, sought the help of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Cebu City Field Unit for fear that the woman would make good on her promise.

He said he knew the woman through Facebook messenger, and on the last week of April 2023 they agreed to meet somewhere in Talisay and decided to check in at a lodging house.

After their sexual encounter, Michael said he promised to give P2,000 to the woman even if the latter did not demand money from him.

Michael said he fell in love with the woman even if they met only once because, according to him, the latter performed well in bed.

Besides, he has been longing for sexual activity since 2013 when he got separated from his wife, with whom he has two children.

But on May 3, 2023, Michael said the woman chatted him, reminding him about his promise.

He said he told the woman that he will give the money the following week after getting his salary from a factory in Mandaue where he works.

But last Monday, May 8, 2023, the woman chatted him again and raised the amount to P20,000 and threatened to file a rape case against him if he could not give in to her demand.

“Tinuod na nga ako siya nga gisaaran pero wala pa man koy kwarta. Nahadlok ko sir basin tinud-on niya ba nga kasohan ko niyag rape nga nag sabot man mi. Nahigugma naman ko niya sir bisan kausa rami nag ana-ana,” Michael said.

(It’s true that I made a promise but I don’t have money yet. I’m worried sir that she would accuse me for rape even after we made the deal. I fell in love with her sir even though we had sex only once).

A CIDG 7 official who refused to be identified advised Michael to fulfill his promise and settle the problem within themselves since the sexual encounter was not against their will.

He said the woman can be charged with robbery extortion if she insists on demanding money. (AYB, TPT)
