TRAVELERS can anticipate another boat to transport them between Camotes Island and Cebu in the coming months.

This after Governor Gwendolyn Garcia met with shipping mogul Paul Rodriguez on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at the Capitol to discuss about opening a new route from Liloan port to Poro, Camotes.

Rodriguez is chief operating officer of Asian Marine Transport Corporation, which operates Super Shuttle Ferry, Super Shuttle Roro and Shuttle Fast Ferry vessels.

Currently, only Jomalia Shipping Corporation serves the Cebu-Camotes route and has been operating for many years.

Garcia plans to develop a new route from mainland Cebu to Camotes Island in order to spur competition and offer travelers and tourists better services.

Assuming there are no other issues with their plan, the governor wants the ship’s journey on the new route to be shorter than the two-hour travel time of Jomalia. (PAC, TPT)
