Doña Pepang heritage park project set to break ground

A GROUNDBREAKING ceremony for the transformation of the 11,742-square-meter Doña Pepang cemetery in Barangay Tejero into a heritage park will be held by the Cebu City Government.

Former Apas barangay captain and special assistant to the Mayor’s Office on Special Projects Ramil Ayuman stated the June 12 groundbreaking date is still tentative.

At least seven nearby businesses, according to Ayuman, have showed interest in supporting the P50-million project, which will be undertaken through a public-private partnership deal.

Ayuman said a follow-up meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 to discuss the project further.

The Prevention, Restoration, Order, Beautification and Enhancement (Probe) team, Cebu City Traffic Office, and Department of Engineering and Public Works had already demolished the illegal structures inside the cemetery last month to pave the way for the development. (PAC, TPT)
