Corporal Eleazar Belciña of Talisay City Police Station identified the victim as Franklin Bolaquia, who was previously assigned as investigator of Oslob Police Station, and the suspect as Patrolman Don Rusti Pelayo, a member of the Traffic Enforcement Unit of the Mandaue City Police Office.
Belciña said their trouble started when the two dogs that belonged to Bolaquia and his neighbor Isaias Dela Peña got into a fight.
Dela Peña reportedly went out of his house to calm the dogs.
But Bolaquia, who had just arrived after fetching his wife in Cebu City where she works as a security guard, apparently was not pleased with what Dela Peña did and got a crowbar and slammed the door of the latter’s house with it, leading to an argument between them.
In the middle of their altercation, Pelayo approached them and interfered.
But instead of paying attention, Bolaquia allegedly went home, returned and pointed a gun at Pelayo, prompting the latter to act first and shoot his uncle.
After the incident, Pelayo turned himself in with his service weapon to Talisay City Police Station.
It was learned that the father-in-law of Pelayo’s mother is a brother of Bolaquia’s father. (BBT/TPT)
