THE Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO 7) has logged 11 shooting incidents in the Central Visayas from September 24 to 30, 2023.

Of these cases, two are still under investigation, three were deemed solved after the suspects were apprehended, while six cases had the suspects charged after being identified by some witnesses as the perpetrators of the crime, according to the PRO 7 data.

PRO 7 Director Brigadier General Anthony Aberin’s spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Gerard Ace Pelare, said the order from their superior to all police units in the region is to improve police visibility on the streets during the night and dawn, especially in crime-prone areas where the shooting incidents are likely to occur.

Pelare said Aberin also ordered all police station chiefs in the Central Visayas to continue searching for the criminal responsible for a crime that occurred under their jurisdiction until he is captured.

The police in Central Visayas assured the locals that despite the shooting events in Cebu and its neighboring provinces, there is no need for them to be frightened because the entire region 7 is peaceful.

Pelare continued by saying that while most of the shootings were motivated by personal grievances, some of them also included illegal substances.(AYB, TPT)
