Cebu legislator launches first-ever Cong. Edu Rama Softball Cup

CEBU Congressman Eduardo “Edu” Rama Jr., known for his love of sports, officially launched his first-ever “Cong. Edu Rama Softball Cup” on Sunday, May 7.

The legislator’s first sports cup, in partnership with Converge ICT Solutions Inc., aims to be a community-driven tournament that will bring together softball enthusiasts in Cebu City’s South District.

“We are very excited to announce that our first-ever softball cup in partnership with Converge will happen this month of May, with eight competing teams promoting camaraderie, teamwork, and sportsmanship this summer,” said Congressman Rama.

The four-week event will take place on all Sundays of May at the Labangon Elementary School Grounds.

“Kita nga mahiligon kaayo og paugnat sa kusog malaumon nga mao na kini ang sinugdanan sa atong mas dako pa unya nga laing sports cup alang sa mga Sugbuanon,” added the Cebuano legislator.

Teams vying for the throne to be the first champion of the first “Cong. Edu Softball Cup” include Wirednook, Taters, Rebels, Bandits, Vikings-c10, JBR Mega Voltz, Shenica, and KA2 Apparel Asturias.

Each team is composed of 17 members and three coaches in the mixed category.

The official launching of the tournament started with a motorcade this morning from Cebu City Hall Grounds passing through South Road Properties, Barangay Mambaling, F. Llamas Street both in Barangays Punta Princesa and Tisa until the end of the route at Labangon Elementary School in Barangay Labangon.

“Gawas nga malipayon kita nga na-realize kini atong damgo, mapasalamaton usab kaayo kita sa Converge sa ilahang pagsanong sa atong hangyo kanila nga mo-partner niining labing una nato nga softball cup,” said Congressman Rama.

Logane Echavez, the Sugbo Softball Association Head, introduced all eight teams during the opening program while Pakil dela Cerna, the Tournament Manager, administered the Oath of Sportsmanship for the players.

Converge ICT Solutions Inc., Regional General Manager – VisMin Michael Macquiran, also extended his good luck to all the players vying for the championship.

Aside from the medals and trophies that the winning team will receive, a P10,000 cash prize is also at stake.

Converge ICT Solutions Inc., together with other leading sponsors, will also award special prizes and raffle off items for the players for the whole duration of the tournament. (PR)
