Police Lieutenant Colonel Gerard Ace Pelare, spokesperson of PRO 7 Director Brigadier General Anthony Aberin, said they ordered the Santa Fe Police Station to look into the reports.
He said that based on initial investigation, there were three groups that offered “booking services” to tourists who wanted to book resorts in Santa Fe on Holy Week. It turned out, though, that no booking was made.
The tourists communicated with the scammers via social media.
Pelare said they will also ask the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 7 to help identify the persons behind the scam. (AYB/LMY)
