DUE to the rise in theft and robbery incidents in the municipality, more police officers will be deployed on the streets of Argao town in southern Cebu to protect the locals.

Argao Mayor Allan Sesaldo made this announcement during a meeting with town’s 47 barangay captains on Tuesday, June 27.

The mayor claimed that coordinated effort is required to put an end to a series of untoward incidents in the area.

As a result, the mayor has ordered to increase the police presence in the community under the direction of Argao Police Station Chief Major Ivy Bartolome.

Because of this, Bartolome requested for additional personnel who can be deployed in various areas of the town including the mountainous part.

The local government has already found a facility that can house the additional policemen.

Aside from the police visibility, the local government also wanted to install closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in areas frequented by the people.

The barangay officials were also urged to coordinate with the police if there are any untoward incidents in their area.

Sesante hoped for the collaboration of the government officials and the residents to achieve an orderly and peaceful Argao. (ANV, TPT)
