THE third most wanted person in Cebu accused of raping a minor was arrested by the operatives of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Cebu City Field Unit at 12:40 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023, in Barangay Bungtod, Bogo City, northern Cebu.

Police identified the suspect as Renz Rogel Jugan Lampitao, 20, single, a resident of Barangay Dayhagon, Medellin, Cebu.

Judge Samson Troy Kintanar Layese of Bogo City Regional Trial Court Branch 78 issued the warrant of arrest against Lampitao on March 15, 2023 for two counts of statutory rape and one count of attempted statutory rape.

Although no bail has been recommended for the statutory rape, the court allows Lampitao to post a bond of P200,000 for his attempted statutory rape.

Lieutenant Colonel Randy Korret, chief of CIDG Cebu City Field Unit, revealed that they immediately implemented the “Oplan Pagtugis” to find the suspect in coordination with the 701st Regional Mobile Force Battalion 7, City Investigation and Detective Management Unit and Medellin Police Station after receiving the order of the court.

Korret said they locate the suspect at the house of his relatives in Bogo City through the information given by their informant.

Korret said that Lampitao became at large after he allegedly raped his minor neighbor between October and December of last year.

After the victim told his family what had happened, they filed a lawsuit, and the accused fled and kept on moving between Medellin and Bogo to evade arrest.

The accused is now under the custody of the CIDG 7. (AYB, TPT)
