Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Zaldy Co denied Thursday that he went to The Hague and has involvement in the International Criminal Court.
“I categorically deny the false information circulating online regarding my alleged involvement with the ICC and my supposed trip to The Hague. I have no connection to the ICC, nor am I in The Hague, Netherlands,” Co said in a press statement.
Co, however, said he went to Rome for a personal meeting. He said he left Manila on board Emirates Flight EK333 to Dubai on March 11, 2025, and proceeded to Rome on board Emirates Flight EK0097 on March 12.
“It (travel abroad) was solely for a scheduled personal meeting in Rome and had nothing to do with the ICC…Any claims suggesting that I am in The Hague or any location other than Rome are entirely false,” he said.
He also denied owning RP-C5219 Gulfstream G550 aircraft that transported former President Rodrigo Duterte to The Netherlands on March 11.
“Social media posts linking me to this aircraft are completely untrue,” he said.
“It is evident that certain individuals are actively spreading fake news, particularly targeting me and several of my colleagues in the House of Representatives. I believe this is a concerted effort to divert the public’s attention from the real issue,” he added.
Co used to be the chairperson of the powerful House committee on appropriations.
He, however, lost that position in January 2025, days after the P6.325 trillion national budget for 2025 was signed by the President into law.
Co said he resigned from his post House Committee on Appropriations chairperson due to health reasons. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
