Vote for pro-democracy, pro-human rights bets -People Power group

The Buhay Ang People Power Campaign Network (BAPP), a coalition dedicated to preserving and promoting the legacy of the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution, on Saturday urged Filipinos to demonstrate People Power at the May 2025 elections by voting leaders who esteem democracy, human rights, and good governance.

“People Power reminds us that every Filipino has the power to change their situation, which is especially relevant today in the face of unprecedented corruption in the 2025 National Budget, brazen threats of violence and killing, and an all-out war between two elite factions that both ignore the needs of the people they’re supposed to serve,” said Kiko Aquino Dee, Executive Director of the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Foundation and BAPP co-convenor in a statement.

“Let us exercise People Power through the ballot in the coming May elections by electing leaders who value democracy, human rights, and good governance and kicking out those who ignore their duties,” Dee added.

The group attended a Mass at the EDSA Shrine to start the celebrations for the 39th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution.

The Mass was celebrated by Father Flaviano Villanueva, and concelebrated by Father Manoling Francisco, and Father Robert Reyes.

Among the attendees were BAPP co-convenor and former Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Teresita Quintos Deles, Akbayan Partylist first nominee Chel Diokno, ML Partylist third nominee Erin Tañada, former Budget Secretary Butch Abad, and former Senator Frank Drilon.

Events will also be held in the coming days for the People Power Anniversary.
