Querubin urges uniformed personnel to remain nonpartisan

Retired Marine colonel and independent senatorial candidate Ariel Querubin urged uniformed personnel to maintain being nonpartisan and observe the rule of law.

“Sa mga men in uniform, ito lang ang hiling ko sa inyo: remain loyal to the duly constituted authority. Protektahan natin ang ating Konstitusyon at dapat hindi tayo partisan,” he said.

(To the men in uniform, I ask only this of you: remain loyal to the duly constituted authority. Let us protect our Constitution and remain nonpartisan.)

Querubin made the statement during the celebration of his 69th birthday on Friday at the Philippine Navy headquarters in Taguig City, where he was a Marine officer for almost 35 years.

Other senatorial candidates also took advantage of the weekend to reach more voters.

Partido Demokratiko Sosyalista ng Pilipinas senatorial bet Norberto Gonzales said he believes the approval ratings of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will drop further as a result of the arrest of former president Rodrigo Duterte on a warrant issued by the International Criminal Court in connection with drug war deaths.

“Malamang na maging below-zero ang approval rating ni PBBM, kaya’t lalo pang dadami ang hihiling ng pagpapalit ng pamahalaan. Dapat mag-plano na ng pag-alis sa puwesto ang Malacañang para wala nang gulo,” Gonzales said in a statement.

(PBBM’s approval rating will most likely fall to below zero, which is why there might be more people wishing for a change in government. Malacañang should plan for his exit so that there will be no conflict.)

Independent candidate Bonifacio Bosita visited Capiz and paid a courtesy call on Governor Fredenil Castro, who endorsed his candidacy.

“Ang kanyang pagkilala sa ating ipinaglalaban ay isang malaking karangalan at inspirasyon para magpatuloy sa laban,” he said in a statement on Facebook.
