Philippines logs 223 new COVID-19 cases; active tally at 4,819

The Philippines on Thursday registered 223 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the nationwide caseload to 4,172,392. Active cases also increased by 51 to 4,819.

According to the Department of Health’s latest COVID-19 bulletin, the recovery tally increased by 163 cases to 4,101,009, while 14 cases increased the death toll to 66,564.

The National Capital Region had the highest number of new COVID-19 cases in the past two weeks with 642, followed by Central Luzon with 432, Calabarzon with 369, the Ilocos Region with 277, and Western Visayas with 234.

Among provinces and cities, Quezon City had the most new cases in the last two weeks with 147, followed by Ilocos Norte with 125, Cavite with 105, Iloilo with 104, and Cagayan with 101.

As of Wednesday, 4,804 individuals were tested under 306 testing labs. The current bed occupancy is 15.% with 3,554 occupied and 20,136 vacant. — Sherylin Untalan/BM, GMA Integrated News
