PH gov’t, NDFP to resume peace talks

Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. on Tuesday said the Philippine government and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines have agreed to “a principled and peaceful resolution of the armed  conflict” saying this would be a start of another peace talk.

“I am honored to deliver upon the instruction of the President of the Republic of the Philippines, His Excellency Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., the Oslo Joint Communiqué,” Galvez said at a Palace press briefing.

”This joint communiqué highlights a significant milestone in the quest of the Filipino people to achieve peace, reconciliation, and unity. I am, therefore, privileged to report that the government of the Republic of the Philippines and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines have agreed to a principle and peaceful resolution in ending the armed conflict,” he added.

Asked if it will be a resumption of peace negotiations, Galvez said, “We will start anew… from the start talaga.”

Galvez is also optimistic about the relations of the government and the NDFP under the Marcos administration.

”Nakikita ko the President is very positive, based on our briefing, maganda ‘yung perspective… even the other party, they are very confident. Maganda ‘yung ating experience with Oslo,” he said.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
