Oldest living Filipino World War II veteran turns 100

The oldest living Filipino World War II veteran celebrated his 100th birthday on Monday.

According to a report on Balitanghali on Wednesday, Teofilo Gamutan, or Lolo Pilo, celebrated his birthday surrounded by friends and family.

Vice President Sara Duterte was present at the event to honor Gamutan’s service to the country.

Gamutan served as a commanding officer during the Second World War, which was marked by the Filipinos’ resistance to Japanese occupation from 1942 to 1945.
