Nine former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officials from Region 4B on Thursday formally asked the Sandiganbayan to grant their petition for bail pending their malversation case in connection with the alleged P289 million substandard flood control project in Oriental Mindoro.
This happened after the nine accused faced the anti-graft court on Thursday for Day 1 of the hearing for their petition for bail.
The nine individuals, who stands accused in the malversation raps alongside former Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Zaldy Co and other Sunwest Corporation officials, include:
- Gerald Pacanan, DPWH regional director
- Gene Ryan Altea, DPWH assistant regional director
- Ruben D.S. Santos, DPWH assistant regional director
- Montrexis Tamayo, DPWH OIC-chief, Planning and Design Division
- Dominic Serrano, DPWH construction division chief and Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) chairperson
- Dennis Abagon, DPWH OIC-chief, Quality Assurance and Hydrology Division, BAC regular member
- Juliet Calvo, DPWH Maintenance Division Chief
- Lerma Cayco, DPWH accountant IV and
- Felisardo Casuno, DPWH project engineer III
The DPWH officials showed up in court in their yellow Persons Deprived of Liberty uniform.
Ombudsman prosecutors recommended no bail for the malversation raps against the abovemention accused. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
