Napolcom to curb illegal use, sale of police uniforms

In an effort to put a stop to the unauthorized use, manufacture, and sale of Philippine National Police (PNP) uniform, the National Police Commission (Napolcom) has convened its accredited uniform suppliers to discuss stricter measures and accountability.

Napolcom alerted its suppliers on the increasing prevalence of unauthorized sellers, both in the vicinity of the PNP National Headquarters and across various online selling platforms.

“These unregulated activities continue to undermine uniform authenticity and compromise institutional standards,” the police agency said.

Napolcom chief Commissioner Rafael Vicente Calinisan said “firm and strategic steps” will be taken to address the issue, emphasizing the importance of preserving the integrity of the police uniform as a symbol of public trust and professionalism.

“The PNP uniform is not just clothing; it is a badge of honor that represents duty, integrity, and public service,” he said.

“We cannot allow unauthorized reproduction and illegal selling to tarnish that symbol. NAPOLCOM will intensify enforcement and ensure that only legitimate suppliers are part of this system of accountability,” Calinisan added.

The Napolcom chief said stricter monitoring will be done on the sale of the uniform, both online and in physical stores, to prevent its misuse and protect the credibility of the police service.—LDF, GMA Integrated News
