Marcos proclaims October Communications Month, October 11 PCO anniversary

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. declared October of every year as “Communications Month” and every 11th of the month as the anniversary of the Presidential Communications Office, the PCO said in a Sunday statement.

In Proclamation No. 308, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on August 2, Marcos underscored the vital role of communication in engaging and involving the citizenry and the media industry in enriching the quality of public discourse on all governance matters.

“The administration aims to provide true, accurate, and relevant information regarding its policies, priority programs, and projects to nurture a well-informed and enlightened citizenry through appropriate media,” said the President.

He added that the PCO would lead the observance of Communications Month and its anniversary as he tasked the office to identify programs, projects, and activities for the annual celebration.

Marcos also urged all agencies, government-owned or-controlled corporations, state universities and colleges, all local government units, non-government organizations, and the private sector to join and support the PCO in the observance of Communications Month and its anniversary.

Under Executive Order No. 11 (s. 2022) and Executive Order No. 16 (s. 2023), the PCO is responsible for crafting, formulating, developing, enhancing, and coordinating the messaging system of the executive branch and the Office of the President. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
