President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has approved the Tatak Pinoy Strategy (TPS), a comprehensive national plan aimed at strengthening Philippine industries, boosting local production, and enhancing the global competitiveness of Filipino goods and services.
The President signed Memorandum Circular 104 on Oct. 24, a copy of which was published on the Official Gazette website.
The executive issuance directed all national government agencies, government-owned or -controlled corporations (GOCCs), and local government units (LGUs) to support the implementation of the Tatak Pinoy Strategy.
The said strategy was developed by the Tatak Pinoy Council, through the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in consultation with key stakeholders. The Tatak Pinoy Council was tasked as the lead implementing body for the initiative.
Republic Act 11981 or the “Tatak Pinoy (Proudly Filipino) Act” was passed to encourage, support, and promote the production and offering of Philippine products and services that are increasingly diverse, sophisticated, and globally competitive.
The DTI said the Tatak Pinoy Council formulated the Tatak Pinoy Strategy through an inclusive, consultative, and evidence-based process in coordination with government agencies, the business sector, research institutions, and other key stakeholders.
The Tatak Pinoy Strategy outlined the strategy and action plans at the national, provincial, city, and municipal levels, to expand and diversify the productive capacities of domestic enterprises and empower them to produce increasingly sophisticated goods and services that can compete in the global market.
The directive tasked the DTI and the Presidential Communications Office to disseminate the Tatak Pinoy Strategy to all concerned government agencies and offices.
The Tatak Pinoy Strategy will be publicly accessible through the DTI’s official website and other appropriate platforms to promote transparency and stakeholder engagement. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
