From a super typhoon, Uwan has weakened into a typhoon early Monday morning, but tropical cyclone wind signals remain in effect.
Uwan (international name: Fung-Wong) made landfall on Sunday night over Dinalungan, Aurora, then crossed the Luzon landmass.
PAGASA, in its 5 a.m. bulletin, said Uwan exited the Luzon landmass and was estimated to be located over the coastal waters of Bacnotan, La Union as of 4 a.m Monday.
Uwas is moving west northwestward at 25 km/h with maximum sustained winds of 150 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 230 km/h, and central pressure of 955 hPa.
Twelve areas were under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 4 as of 5 a.m.
TCWS Nos. 3, 2, and 1 were also raised over several areas in Luzon and Visayas.
