The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is set to fast-track the review and approval of generic drug applications, Unang Balita reported on Friday.
From 120 days, the processing period will be reduced to 45 days, the report said. The requirements for application, however, will remain the same.
The shortened processing period, which is in accordance with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s order, aims to improve public access to generic, more affordable drugs.
At a Palace press briefing on Tuesday, FDA director general Dr. Samuel Zacate said Marcos has directed them to streamline the drug application and regulatory processes in the Philippines. —KBK, GMA Integrated News
