DOH promotes biking as affordable, alternative means of transportation

Newly appointed Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Teodoro Herbosa on Saturday promoted bicycles as a sustainable, affordable, and alternative means of transportation.

“Biking is a simple yet effective form of exercise and helps in reducing the levels of pollution in the country,” Herbosa said during the World Bicycle Day celebration in Taguig City.

“If Taguig can do this, I challenge every city to encourage and support biking both as an alternative mode of transportation and as a means to reduce pollution in the country,” he added.

The event also launched the DOH’s Active Transport Playbook, which received P1,150,000 in funding to promote active modes of transportation, such as cycling and walking, as effective means to mitigate the prevalence of non-communicable diseases.
