DOH logs 156 new COVID-19 cases, lowest daily tally in nearly 4 months

The Department of Health registered 156 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the country’s total cases to 4,170,389.

Tuesday’s tally is the lowest daily total in three months and 21 days or 17 weeks, or since 137 cases were logged on March 23, according to GMA Integrated News Research.

Data from the latest DOH COVID-19 bulletin also shows that the country’s active case total of 5,470 is the lowest in 78 days.

Total recoveries climbed by 362 to 4,098,404, while the death toll increased by five to 66,515.

The National Capital Region (NCR) was the region with the most new COVID-19 cases in the last 14 days with 810, followed by Central Luzon with 638, Calabarzon with 473, Western Visayas with 355, and Ilocos Region with 332.

Among cities and provinces, Quezon City recorded the most new cases in the past 14 days with 199, followed by Iloilo province with 150, Cavite province with 141, Bulacan province with 156, and Nueva Ecija province with 129.

A total of 5,014 individuals were tested on Monday, while 308 testing labs submitted data.

The current bed occupancy is 14.5%, with 3,592 occupied and 21,241 vacant as of July 17. — Sherylin Untalan/BM, GMA Integrated News
