A policeman missed his child’s birthday after he was killed in an anti-drug operation in Bataan.
According to Jun Veneracion’s report on “24 Oras”, Police Corporal Darnel Alfonso was shot by two suspects, who were also killed in the shooting.
Two of Alfonso’s colleagues were injured in the incident.
“Biruin niyo birthday na ng anak niya kinabukasan. may operation di naman yan tatanggi,” his widow Risa said. “Hindi ‘yan magdadahilan kahit maghapon na siyang
nakaduty sa office din kapag may operation, sama pa rin siya,” she added.
The PNP assured Alfonso’s loved ones that they would immediately receive the benefits and financial assistance due to the dependents of policemen like him.
It is also looking after the medical needs of his fellow police officers, who were injured in the operation.
Alfonso would have reached his eighth year in the PNP in October.
Twenty-five police officers have been killed in anti-drug operations from July 2022 to March 2023.
