The launch of China’s Long March 8A rocket has been rescheduled to February, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) announced.
In an advisory posted on Saturday, the OCD stated that the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) would release another announcement once the exact date is confirmed.
The Long March 8A rocket was initially scheduled for launch last Saturday, between 5:53 p.m. and 6:42 p.m., from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site in Hainan Province.
In anticipation of the launch, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) temporarily banned fishing activities at Rozul Reef and the waters off Puerto Princesa, Palawan, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on January 25–27 due to the risk of falling rocket debris.
Three potential rocket debris drop zones were identified. The OCD also issued a memorandum instructing relevant agencies to ensure public safety in the affected coastal areas. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
