Work hours for Muslim officials and employees in all ministries, offices, and agencies in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) have been adjusted in observance of the holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement Friday, the Office of the Chief Minister in BARMM issued a memorandum revising regular working hours during Ramadan to 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., instead of the regular hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The resolution is pursuant to Presidential Decree 291, which provides for the implementation of Muslim holidays, and relevant Civil Service Commission (CSC) resolutions.
“This adjustment aims to accommodate the religious practices of Muslim employees while ensuring compliance with the required 40-hour workweek under civil service regulations,” the statement read.
A moon sighting has been scheduled in BARMM on Friday, February 28, to determine the start of the Ramadan.
